Restore America’s Estuaries, a nonprofit organization, wanted to gain support from Congress and federal agencies for additional funding for coastal habitat restoration. Betty Hageman Graphic Design provided strategic design, page layout and illustration for this eight-page brochure that made the case for “jobs and dollars” benefits from coastal habitat restoration. The full-color brochure uses stories, graphs and photos to tell the story of economic benefits to coastal areas. It’s based on solid data, but is not text-heavy.

Jeff Benoit, President, Restore America’s Estuaries, says “The response to the report has been fantastic, far exceeding our expectations. As soon as the report was released we began receiving congratulations and kudos from many colleagues and citizens far and wide. Most importantly, it really hit our target audience: Hill staff and federal agencies. Word about the report, and copies, spread quickly among the federal agencies such as NOAA and EPA. Chris was at a meeting with the Administrator of NOAA and she held up the report and said publicly, ‘This is exactly what we need to make our case.’

Similarly, I handed a copy of the report to the Chair at the President’s Council on Environmental Quality and after she thumbed through it while folks were talking, she stopped the meeting and said, ‘We need reports like this!’ Needless to say we are thrilled with the outcome!”
